Working out should not be a tedious task. With all the amazing benefits both internally and externally, it should be second nature to us. However, the shocking obesity rate in this country and throughout the world will tell a different story. If you are looking to get back into shape, or even start a workout routine for the very first time, why not try using something other than the gym?

Maybe the gym, or a fitness class isn’t really up your alley for working out, but that doesn’t mean all options are off the table. There are so many ways to get fit with just using the elements this great Earth gave you.

Walking along the beach is a great way to tone legs and arms. The sand is a natural resistance and helps tons you from the core down. If you live in a hilly terrain area, you can just walk through your neighborhood and give your legs more of a challenge.

Another great alternative (speaking of the beach) is to swim. Swimming works every muscle in your body and is good for your body inside and out. If you have a nearby beach or lake, the gently current will also work as a natural resistance and will help give you more of a complete workout.

Lastly, biking is an excellent way to get your cardio in without being stuck in the fluorescent lighting and crowded space. And the best part is, you don’t have to spend a fortune on some expensive street bike, either. Any bike will do as long as it fits the area you are in (a mountain bike with gears for harder terrain, etc.)

It’s easy to stay fit when you have the right gear from Columbia to help with your hiking, biking and all things outdoors. Not only will the right equipment help you achieve your  health goals, but it will keep you supported and safe while doing so.

Find a fitness buddy

You’ve decided to use Mother Earth’s elements around you, but you still need a little more motivation to do this every day. No sweat. The best way to ensure you stick to your workout regime is to find someone who will partner with you, keep you motivated to stay committed, and even workout right alongside of you. This will not only give you the motivation you need to continue, but will also make it more enjoyable.
